We Cannot Turn Back

50 years ago in America, things were very different. Facilities were totally separate for blacks and whites. We have come a long way since the laws and thoughts that have divided our country for so long. There was a hundred years or so of legislation that kept black "in their places" after slavery ended in America. Now, in 2009, we sit here on the eve of the inauguration of an African American as President of the United States.

It seems as if America is fulfilling it's promises to the world and this could be the beginning of a new era. Martin Luther King, Jr. would be proud to see this day. I am proud to see this day. America should be proud to see this day, but we cannot turn back.
