THE AMERICAN DREAM

As we sit here and reflect on what is happening in 2008, everyone has to agree that we are living in historic times. Historic gas prices, historic deficit, home losses, historic job losses...and a historic nominee in Barack Obama. The Democratic party has just nominated and African American nominee for President of the United States. Clinton just gave the best speech that I have seen him give since he has left office and he threw his support to Barack. Now where does that leave us, we as a people have to make this promise a reality. The promise of America lives in Barack and as we witness this historic moment in American history, the question we have to ask is : Will America stand up to it's promise?

I told my parents years ago that if Bush won his presidency would go down in history as one of the worst ever. I worked in 2004 to help get Kerry elected, but what we failed to realize was that middle America would vote against all of our efforts to elect a qualified candidate. Can Obama win? Yes he can.

45 years after Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech America has a chance to show the world that the dream is real. This country that holds such a bright beacon of hope for the world's masses is poised to do the right or the wrong thing in November 2008. Let's see what happens.
